Recently I was asked to create a resume for a successful business woman. We'll call her "Jane". Jane was interested in merging her business within another team environment.Now Jane had never had a resume before, so she wasn't certain what information I would need in order to help her. I gave her my list in the hopes that it would spike in her memory all of her accomplishments over the years;
- What is your career vision?
- What is your skill set?
- What are your accomplishments?
- What awards or acknowledgments have you received?
Jane was very impressed with the resume that I created for her, and she received compliments from those that she shared it with. She found herself saying, "Yes, I look good on paper." I corrected her and told her that the paper only documents you, what you bring to the table is bigger than that. Accept your greatness and others will too.
