If you have a j-o-b, I would like to know, does that job define you?

Today I was speaking with a friend who is unhappy in her life. She is uncertain as to how she ended up in the field she is in. I reminded her of a time a few years back when she expressed her vision to me of the ideal career. Her response was, "Oh...that was a long time ago." Well, yes, it was, however it doesn't mean that it cannot happen.

Choose AND Move! Make it happen! After our conversation, the following quote popped up on Twitter, right in front of my eyes;

New Year, New You?

Recently I was asked to create a resume for a successful business woman. We'll call her "Jane". Jane was interested in merging her business within another team environment.

Now Jane had never had a resume before, so she wasn't certain what information I would need in order to help her. I gave her my list in the hopes that it would spike in her memory all of her accomplishments over the years;

• What is your career vision?
• What is your skill set?
• What are your accomplishments?
• What awards or acknowledgments have you received?

In addition to the usual lists of employers and educational achievements found on the typical resume, I feel it is also important to expand and show the reader that you are more than the jobs that you held.

Jane was very impressed with the resume that I created for her, and she received compliments from those that she shared it with. She found herself saying, "Yes, I look good on paper." I corrected her and told her that the paper only documents you, what you bring to the table is bigger than that. Accept your greatness and others will too.

Friendly Faces

I joined Facebook the other day, I know, it's about time. I am actually enjoying this experience. It's amazing that in just a couple of hours my friend count was in the 30's just from the suggested people Facebook figured I may know.

Just inputting where you work, or have worked, in addition to where you went to school can bring up all sorts of familiar faces. Well even if the faces have changed the names really do "ring a bell" in your head.

If you haven't ventured into Facebook yet, I really must tell you that you are missing out on filling some of the holes from friends left behind in your past. It's also a great place to network, so get your face into it and have some fun!

Rest in Peace Sunny

It's been quiet around here. Our sweet Sunny Sky Trombly went to heaven on Friday evening. We miss her so very much.

Sunny was a beloved member of the family. She slept in my room and between walks she would lay under my desk while I worked.

So many wonderful memories, we were indeed fortunate she chose us that day at the pound :) 9-9-99 to 1-2-09 What a ride!!
